Fast bowler Dushmantha Chameera has been ruled out of Sri Lanka's 20-member squad for the forthcoming Asia Cup in the UAE.

The Asia Cup 2022, which will be played in the T20I format, will take place from August 27 to September 11 across two venues in Dubai and Sharjah.

Chameera sustained an injury to his left leg while practicing. The 30-year-old has been replaced by Nuwan Thushara in the squad. Sri Lanka



will begin their campaign at the Asia Cup against Afghanistan on August 27 in Dubai.

Earlier on August 20, Sri Lanka announced the squad following the approval of Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe. Team Sri Lanka will leave for the marquee tournament on August 24. Binura Fernando and Kasun Rajitha were selected in the squad but will not travel with the team as they have suffered injuries during the SLC Invitational T20 League 2022.
