India women rode on the batting heroics of Deepti Sharma and Jemimah Rodrigues to hammer UAE women by 104 runs in a group game to move to the top of the points table in the Asia Cup T20 tournament on Tuesday.
Jemimah Rodrigues top-scored with an unbeaten 75 while Deepta Sharma scored 64 as India posted a huge 178 for five against UAE in a Women's Asia Cup match on Tuesday.
India struggled early on, losing three quick wickets, but Jemimah and Deepti shared a 128-run stand to infuse life into their innings. The inexperienced UAE bowlers cut a sorry
figure.
UAE lost their three wickets in less than 2 overs but then Kavisha Egodage and Khushi Sharma stood together to steady the ship. They managed to tick the scoreboard over at a slow clip and that meant UAE never went for the win.
"My mindset is simple. I just go out there and score as much as I can for the team. I just wanted to pick up the momentum. I had the same talk with Deepti. It took some time as it is not the easiest of wickets. I was talking to Deepti that since the Lanka tour and then CWG both of us had some good partnerships," Jemimah Rodrigues said.
