David Warner-Mitchell Marsh and Imam-ul-Haq-Abdullah Shafique created a bit of history on Friday, October 20 at the Chinnaswamy stadium where Australia and Pakistan are battling it out in the World Cup 2023.
Warner and Marsh made history by setting a new record for Australia's highest opening partnership in ODI World Cup history. The duo registered an impressive 259 runs, marking the second-highest opening partnership in the history of
the World Cup and the highest-ever recorded by an Australian pair.
Warner, who scored his 21st ODI hundred with a 124-ball 163, and Marsh, who achieved his second century with a 108-ball 121, gave the Aussies a brilliant platform in Bangalore. Their explosive partnership helped Australia pile a hefty 367 for 9 against Pakistan. This was only the fourth instance in World Cup history that both openers notched centuries in the same match.
