Sydney: Hosts Australia took a consolation win against India by 12 runs in the final Twenty20 match in Sydney yesterday as the Men in Blue clinched the three-match series 2-1.
After setting a victory target of 187 runs, Australia restricted the visitors to 174 for 7 in stipulated 20 overs. For India, skipper Virat Kohli was the highest scorer with 85 runs off 61 balls. For the hosts, Mitchell Swepson was the most successful bowler bagging three wickets.
Earlier, riding on Matthew Wade's impressive knock of 80 runs,
Australia posted 186 for five in 20 overs.
The visitors had elected to field against Australia after winning the toss. For India, Washington Sundar claimed two wickets.
On Sunday, India defeated Australia by six wickets in the second Twenty20 match at Sydney. India had also won the opening Twenty20 international on Friday in Canberra by 11 runs.
The first of four Test matches will start on 17th of this month in Adelaide.
