The Australian women's team continued their rampaging form on Saturday when they beat New Zealand by 21 runs in the third and final ODI at Mount Maunganui to extend their unbeaten run to 24 matches.
Rain reduced the match to 25-overs-per-side in which Australia managed to post 149 for 7 on the board thanks to some valuable contributions from Alyssa Healy (46), Beth Mooney (28), Georgia Wareham (18 not out) down the order.
The White Ferns put in a good bowling performance led by Leigh Kasperek, who grabbed 3 wickets while Lea Tahuhu took 2, Amelia Kerr and Jess Kerr picked 1 each.
New Zealand in reply got off to a
poor start with the top-three adding just 38 runs. Captain Amy Satterthwaite was the only batter who managed to reach 20 while the rest all flopped badly which led to their heavy defeat.
The hosts could only manage 128 for 9 in their allotted 25 overs.
Megan Schutt once again led the way with the ball for the Southern Stars with 2 wickets for 22 runs while Georgia Wareham also took 2. Jess Jonassen, Nicola Carey and Ashleigh Gardner bagged a wicket each to cap off a brilliant performance with the ball for Australia.
The result saw Australia stretch their world record unbeaten run to 24 matches in the 50-over format.
