Australia women's team, on Sunday, thrashed South Africa in the final clash to clinch their sixth T20 World Cup title. The Aussies registered their 2nd hattrick of tournament titles by defeating the Proteas by 19 runs. In the eight editions played of the T20 World Cup, Australia made it to the summit clash seven times and emerged victorious six times.

The Aussies registered their first hattrick of title wins by winning the 2010, 2012 and 2014 editions. They won 2018, 2020 and 2023 editions of the tournament to register another successive victories.

Beth Mooney's 74-run knock proved crucial to their record sixth trophy win. Coming to bat first,



the Meg Lanning-led team set a target of 157 for South Africa. The in-form batter smashed nine boundaries and a six at a strike rate of nearly 140 to trouble the Proteas bowlers.

In response, the Proteas managed to score 137/6 in 20 overs in their maiden World Cup final appearance. Opener Laura Wolvaardt kept the match alive till she was around, but her dismissal at 61 (48 balls) in the 17th over ended hopes for South Africa as their batting line-up shattered.
