Bangladesh knocked New Zealand out of the ICC Champions Trophy with a superb 5-wicket win in their final Group-A match at Cardiff last night. Opting to bat, the Kiwis posted 265 for 8, riding on half centuries by Ross Taylor and skipper Kane Williamson.
In reply, after the early fall of wickets, Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah rescued Bangladesh with some exceptional batting performance. Both scored tons and shared 224 runs for the 5th
wicket. Shakib Al Hasan made 114, while Mahmudullah scored an unbeaten 102 as Bangladesh overhauled the target with almost 3 overs to spare.
With the win, Bangladesh have kept their semi-final hopes alive. They will progress if England, which are already through to the last-4, beat Australia in their final group game in Birmingham today. If Australia win, they will join England in the semis and Bangladesh will bow out.
