Centurion: Bangladesh crushed the host South Africa with an impressive 9 wicket victory in the third ODI played at Centurion on Wednesday.
The historic win is the first-ever ODI victory of Bangladesh in the bilateral series with South Africa at their home turf. Skipper Tanim Iqbal scored an unbeaten 87 off 82 balls and stayed unbeaten till the end to give Bangladesh the second victory at Centurion in the 3 match ODI series.
South African team were able to score a paltry 154 rattled by some brilliant bowling by Taskin Ahmed who took five wickets conceding 35 runs. Shakib Al Hasan took 2 wickets for 24 runs. Apart from the openers, Quinton de Kock and Janneman Malan, the South African team was completely dominated by the Bangladeshi bowlers in the match.
South Africa won the toss and decided to bat
first. The openers de Kock and Malan took off to a bright start with a flurry of boundaries before Mehidy Hasan struck with the wicket of Quinton de Kock. After this, very quickly half of the South African team was out with a score of 83 onboard. Taskin Ahmed took his second five-wicket haul in his ODI career and ripped the South African side to an end at a paltry total of 154.
Openers Tamim and Liton Das scored easy boundaries for the Bangladeshi innings. Skipper Tamim displayed some brilliant power play hitting Rababa for four boundaries in the 10th over. Tamim scored his fifty in 52 balls but Liton Das could score 48, missing out on his second fifty in the series. Finally, Shakib Al Hasan took Bangladesh to a historic series victory with nine wickets to spare after batting for 26 overs and 2 balls.
