Days ahead of the Asia Cup 2022, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) removed head coach Russell Domingo from the T20I side and told him to focus on Test and One-Day Internationals.
The BCB President Nazmul Hassan added that the coaches appointed for batting, fast bowling, fielding and technical consultant will look after the T20I side.
"Russell Domingo won't be part of the T20 set-up. He will be with ODIs and Tests," Nazmul was quoted as saying by AFP news agency. "There's no 'head coach' for the T20 side."
"We have a batting coach, a spin coach, fast bowling coach and fielding coach. We also have the captain. We
also have a technical consultant for T20s. He will give the game plan."
The 47-year-old Domingo was appointed as Bangladesh's head coach in August 2019 for an initial period of two years. However, the board extended his stay until November 2023. Under Domingo, Bangladesh failed to win a game in the Super 12 stage of the World Cup 2021.
Domingo said that BCB's decision to separate the roles was a "great idea", adding, "It gives me nice focus on the Test match and 50-overs stuff.
Bangladesh will leave for the Asia Cup in the UAE on August 23. The team is in Group B, which also includes Afghanistan and Sri Lanka.
