Chennai Super Kings are set to face Gujarat Titans in the final of IPL 2023 on Sunday. In the summit clash set to be played at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, both teams will be geared up to win the title. There are speculations of MS Dhoni bidding farewell to the tournament. However, ahead of the game, Ambati Rayudu has made a big announcement. Rayudu took it to his social media handle to announce his retirement.
"2 great teams MI and Csk, 204 matches, 14 seasons, 11 playoffs, 8 finals ,5 trophies. Hopefully 6th tonight. It’s been quite a journey. I have decided that tonight’s final is going to be my last game in the Ipl," the star CSK player tweeted.
"I truly hav enjoyed playing this great tournament.Thank u all. No U-turn," he added.
Rayudu had announced retirement many
times before. Interestingly he announced his retirement from the league last year, but deleted the tweet after a while. Not only this, even after not getting a place in the 2019 World Cup team, Rayudu announced his retirement. But later he took it back as well.
Rayudu played his first IPL match in the year 2010. Rayudu has played IPL for Mumbai Indians for years before playing for CSK. He is playing for CSK since 2018. He has scored 4329 runs in 203 IPL matches at an average of 28.29. Rayudu has scored 22 fifties in IPL. He has also smashed one century in the tournament, that he scored in 2018.
It will be Gujarat's second consecutive final appearance and they will want to win back-to-back title. On the other hand, Chennai will aim to get their hands on the trophy for the fifth time in the history of IPL.
