Delhi Capitals spinner Amit Mishra achieved a new milestone in the Indian Premier League on Tuesday in Chennai when he got the prized scalp of Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma. DC spinner now has the distinction of getting Rohit Sharma out for the most number of times in the T20 tournament.
Amit Mishra has dismissed Rohit Sharma 7 times in IPL, one more than former India pacer Vinay Kumar who had the wood on the Mumbai Indians captain. Kolkata Knight Riders spinner Sunil Narine has also dismissed the star batsman six times in the Indian Premier League.
Notably, Amith Mishra also equaled Zaheer Khan and Sandeep Sharma's record for dismissing a batsman the most number of times in IPL.
The former India pacer had got the wicket of Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni 7 times in the T20 league while Sandeep has also managed to dismiss Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli for 7 times.
Rohit Sharma tried to hit Mishra out of the park but ended up handing a simple catch to Steve Smith at long-on for 44 (30 balls). Mishra went for runs in his first over but triggered a mini-collapse with the wickets of Rohit and Hardik Pandya in his second over. The leg-spinner then sent back MI vice-captain Kieron Pollard to leave the defending champions reeling in Chennai. Rohit Sharma has got off to a good start in all four matches of IPL 2021 but he hasn’t been able to convert those into big scores.
