Former India all-rounder Suresh Raina's father, Trilokchand Raina, died of cancer on Sunday, February 6. Trilokchand, who was a military officer and had mastery of making bombs in an ordnance factory, passed away at his Ghaziabad residence.
Raina's teammates, including Harbhajan Singh, offered their condolences on social media. "Very sad to hear Suresh Raina’s father @ImRaina RIP uncle ji," wrote Harbhajan.
Raina, 35, played 18 Tests, 226 ODIs and 78 T20s for India. Raina's father's
ancestral village is 'Rainawari' in the Jammu and Kashmir union territory of India. His father left the village after the killings of the Kashmir Pandits in the 1990s. The family settled down in Muradnagar town. His father had a 10,000 rupees salary and he couldn't afford the high cricket coaching fees for Suresh.
Then Raina was admitted to the Guru Gobind Singh sports college, Lucknow, in 1998. Raina said he always remains careful not to mention anything which would remind his father about the tragedy of Kashmir.
