Ahead of the IPL 2021 season, 2016 champions Sunrisers Hyderabad have confirmed the appointement of Tom Moody as the director of cricket for the francise. Notably, the former Australia cricketer was the head coach of the David Warner-led team until 2019, after which he was replaced by compatriot and 2019 World Cup-winning coach Trevor Bayliss.
Under Moody, SRH won the title in 2016 and reached the playoff of IPL thrice, including the 2019 season.
SRH had heaped rich praises on Tom Moody after parting ways with the 55-year-old in 2019.
"We would like to thank Tom Mody, who has made an enormous impact with the
franchise, helping us achieve 5 playoff appearances over the past 7 years, including a much treasured championship in 2016. We would also like to thank him for his work ethic and leadership over our journey and wish him all the success moving forward," the franchise had said in their release.
In IPL 2020, SRH had an impressive run in the second half of the tournament after initially losing 3 out of their first 8 matches. The David Warner-led side finished third after losing to finalists Delhi Capitals (DC) in Qualifier 2.
The return of experienced Moody is surely going to boost Orange Army's chances of winning their second title.
