Rahul Tripathi, on Monday, April 11, pulled off one of the best close-in catches one could ever imagine during Sunrisers Hyderabad's (SRH) match against the Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Mumbai. After opting to field first, SRH didn't get off to a great start as Bhuvneshwar Kumar leaked 17 runs in the first over.

It happened to be the most expensive over bowled by any Sunrisers' bowler in the history of the cash-rich T20 league. Kumar bowled a couple of wides that also went for fours. But the pacer made amends in his second over after he accounted for Shubman Gill's wicket. But the dismissal wouldn't have been possible without the piece of sheer brilliance from Tripathi.

Rahul Tripathi takes a blinder:
Bhuvneshwar bowled a wide half-volley and Gill tried to smash the ball

through the cover region for a four. The batter timed the ball to perfection and it was destined to finish over the boundary. However, Tripathi showed great presence of mind and reflexes at the short extra cover region. Tripathi pulled out a full-stretch dive on to his left side and took the catch with his left hand.

The youngster literally plucked the ball out of thin air and showed Gill the road to the pavilion. The Sunrisers' players were delighted after Kumar got rid of Gill, who has been in stupendous form for the Titans, the only unbeaten team in the championship thus far.

Gill perished after scoring seven runs off nine balls and the Titans lost their first wicket in the third over with 24 runs on the board. The Titans scored 51 runs in the powerplay and also lost the wicket of Sai Sudharsan to left-arm seamer T. Natarajan.
