Hamstring injury rules DC's Mitchell Marsh out for at least a week

DC's assistant coach, Pravin Amre, disclosed that Mitchell Marsh, currently sidelined due to a hamstring injury, could potentially miss at least one week of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Marsh's injury history is a cause for concern, especially in the IPL where he has participated in only 42 matches over his eight seasons. His involvement in IPL 2022 was uncertain, yet he managed to play eight games for DC. In IPL 2020, while representing Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), he was ruled out of the tournament after injuring his ankle in the first match. Furthermore, he opted out of SRH's campaign in IPL 2021 due to bubble fatigue.

"He has gone for a scan and the physios will give us a report in a week's time. Then we will come to know what the exact situation is. Whether he can [play the entire season] or not depends on the reports."

Kuldeep Yadav has also been out of action for DC due to a groin niggle; the MI game marked his third absence in a row. Amre predicted that Kuldeep would miss "one or two games" more, but that Mukesh Kumar, who has already missed two games, will return in DC's next encounter on Friday against LSG. "We have to start winning but have been set back by a few injuries," Amre said after DC's fourth defeat in five matches. "In the first game, Ishant [Sharma] couldn't bowl two overs. Then Mukesh got injured. Kuldeep has not played three games. Marsh has a hamstring injury. They are our main players and whoever comes [in for them], they are not as effective because it is like A players vs B players there."
