Defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and the four other teams have named their retentions for the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025. Mumbai Indians (MI) released four cricketers, including fast-bowling all-rounder Issy Wong, who holds the record for being the first bowler to take a hat-trick in the history of the tournament. Wong racked up the feat against the UP Warriorz last season.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru released all-rounder Nadine de Klerk, who was a part of the South African squad in the Women’s T20 World Cup in the UAE. RCB released de Klerk after they traded in English batter Danni Wyatt-Hodge from the Warriorz.

Gujarat Giants let go Sneh Rana, who led them in the inaugural edition of the tournament after Beth Mooney was ruled out due to an injury. Lea Tahuhu, who helped New Zealand win the World Cup, was also released. Delhi Capitals released veteran leg-spinner Poonam Yadav, who was once a key part of the Indian women’s bowling attack.

UP Warriorz, on the other hand,

released fast bowler Lauren Bell after the England cricketer withdrew from the previous edition for international commitments.
