BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has said that he is obsessed with in-form India batsman Rishabh Pant, who has been in sublime form ever since his thrilling knock in the Sydney Test versus Australia.
The former India captain was answering a question on his favourite players in the current Indian cricket team. Ganguly started by saying that he shouldn't pick one over the other as he was the BCCI president.
The 48-year-old went on to praise a bunch of Team India players after publicly admitting his obsession for Pant. Ganguly, stated that he enjoys watching the batting of India captain Virat Kohli and his deputy in the white-ball format Rohit Sharma. He expressed his liking for pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed
Shami before giving Shardul Thakur a huge compliment.
Ganguly, who himself changed the face of India cricket with his aggressive captaincy and never-die-attitude, said that he adores Thakur because "he has got guts".
"All [among current cricketers] are fantastic players. As president of the BCCI, I shouldn't pick one over the other. I enjoy Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma's batting. I am obsessed with Rishabh Pant. I like Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami. I like Shardul Thakur because he has got guts," said Sourav Ganguly after he was asked to pick his favourite India cricketers on a Youtube chat show by Classplus.
Notably, Sourav Ganguly was Rishabh Pant's mentor at Delhi Capitals two seasons ago.
