Veteran India players Mithali Raj and Jhulan Goswami were named in the Women's ODI Team of the Year for 2021 by the International Cricket Council. England's Heather Knight has been named as the captain of the team that was announced on Thursday, January 20.
No Indian was named in the ICC Men's ODI Team of the Year for 2021 led by
Pakistan captain Babar Azam but Mithali and Jhulan did enough in 2021 to get the nod in the Women's Team of the Year. This was also the first time since 2004 that no Indian was named in the Men's ODI Team of the Year.
Earlier in the week, Smriti Mandhana found a spot as the lone Indian in the ICC Women's T20I Team of the Year for 2021.
