Legendary India cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has been named as the global ambassador of the ODI World Cup 2023 by the International Cricket Council (ICC). Tendulkar, the highest run-scorer of all time and popularly recognised as one of the greatest to ever play the game will walk out with the Men’s Cricket World Cup Trophy before the opening match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, declaring the tournament open.
Speaking ahead of the opening match of the edition, Sachin Tendulkar said that it was a dream come true for him to win the 2011
tournament.
"From being a ball boy in 1987 to representing the country in six editions, World Cups have always held a special place in my heart. Winning the World Cup in 2011 is the proudest moment of my cricketing journey," Sachin said.
The highest run scorer in the ODI World Cup by a fair bit of distance, Sachin's tally has not been touched by anyone.
“With so many special teams and players set to compete hard in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 here in India, I am excitedly looking forward to this fantastic tournament," Sachin further added.
