India batter Suryakumar Yadav closed in on the gap between him and Mohammad Rizwan for the race for the top spot in ICC T20I Rankings for batters. Suryakumar brought the gap down to 16 rating points after a consistent series against South Africa at home.
Suryakumar Yadav is at the 2nd spot with 838 rating points, 16 behind Mohammad Rizwan who continues to top the batting charts. Mohammad Rizwan could have extended his lead had he not been rested for the 6th T20I against England at home and scored considerably in the final T20I. Rizwan departed for just 1 in
the series finale, which Pakistan lost and conceded the series.
Suryakumar Yadav could have gone past Mohammad Rizwan had he scored considerably against South Africa in the final T20I. However, on a rare off-day, the Mumbai Indians batter fell for 8 as India failed to chase a mammoth total of 228 runs against South Africa in Indore on Tuesday, October 4.
It means the battle between the two will continue over the next month when both Pakistan and India are among the favourites to win the eighth edition of the T20 World Cup in Australia.
