Former batter Wasim Jaffer reckoned that if Pakistan get knocked out of T20 World Cup 2022, it will be because of their defeat to Craig Ervine's Zimbabwe in their Super 12 match in Perth.
After Pakistan lost their first two matches against Rohit Sharma's India and Ervine's men, a number of permutations and combinations needed to go in their favour to qualify for the semis.
One of them was India needing to beat South Africa on Sunday, October 30 at Perth Stadium. However, that wasn’t the case as the Men in Blue slumped to a five-wicket defeat after failing to defend 133.
Jaffer took to Twitter and wrote, "Contrary to popular belief, if Pakistan is knocked out, it won't be because India lost to SA. It'll be because Pakistan lost to Zimbabwe.

Earlier in the day, Pakistan beat the Netherlands by six wickets in Perth and got over the finishing line in the must-win encounter. Shadab Khan picked up three wickets, after which Mohammad Rizwan scored 49 and helped the Men in Green come up trumps.
As far as the match between India and South Africa are concerned, Lungi Ngidi became the Player of the Match after he picked up four wickets for 29 runs, getting rid of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya.
Thereafter, Aiden Markram and David Miller scored half-centuries as the Proteas chased down 134 with two balls to spare. Temba Bavuma's men also moved to the top of the points table in their Super 12 Group.
