A significant change has been made in the Indian cricket team's jersey for the upcoming ODI series against Jos Buttler’s England. The change will be a matter of pride for Indian cricket fans, as the new jersey now prominently features the colours of the Indian tricolour.
The three-match ODI series between India and England is set to begin on Thursday, February 6. Team India, captained by Rohit Sharma, are fully prepared for the first match, which will be held at the Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) Stadium in Nagpur.
However, this time, the team's look will appear slightly different. The changes made by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to the players' jerseys could send a special message in the history of Indian cricket.
There hasn't been much change to the front and back of the Indian team's new jersey. However, a notable change has been made to
the shoulder area. In the previous jersey, the shoulders featured saffron colour along with two white stripes. But in the new jersey, the saffron colour has been replaced with the colours of the tricolour.
The change now prominently displays saffron, white, and green on the shoulders. Additionally, the blue colour, symbolising the Ashoka Chakra, is also part of the jersey. In this way, the new jersey of Team India is now adorned with the colours of the Indian tricolour. This change is expected to enhance the players' sense of patriotism and national pride.
The Indian team will be high on confidence after beating England 4-1 in the five-match T20I series. But the Men in Blue will be looking to find their feet in the upcoming series, especially with the Champions Trophy knocking on the door. India didn’t win a single ODI last year and none of their players featured in the ICC ODI Team of the Year.
