The Indian men’s selection panel is most likely to meet on Tuesday, January 30 to take a call on the Indian squad for the remaining 3 Tests against England.
India are already 0-1 down in the series after losing the Hyderabad Test by 28 runs. Hence, the pressure will be on the home team, led by Rohit Sharma, to make a comeback after England snatched victory from the jaws of defeat at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
The panel is likely to pick the same squad with an odd change. India, in the meantime, have called up Sarfaraz Khan, Washington Sundar and Sourabh
Kumar for the second Test to start on Friday, February 2 at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam.
Amongst them, Sarfaraz and Sourabh earned their maiden call-ups. Both Sarfaraz and Sourabh played well for India A in their 2-match unofficial Test series against England Lions. Sundar, on the other hand, made his comeback after last playing Test cricket back in 2021.
KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja have been ruled out of the second Test due to injuries. While Rahul sustained a hamstring injury, Jadeja had issues with his right quadriceps.
