Shubman Gill has revealed that he is yet to reach full fitness after his bout with dengue at the beginning of the World Cup 2023 campaign.
Gill's World Cup journey began on a rocky note when he was diagnosed with dengue fever. His illness meant that he had to miss the opening game against Australia and India's second match against Afghanistan.
The 24-year-old would make his return during the clash against Pakistan and has
retained his spot in the side since then.
His return to form was marked by a grand performance against Sri Lanka at the Wankhede stadium. Gill scored his second fifty of the World Cup 2023 in this match, a significant achievement considering he had only scored 104 runs in four matches before this date. His brilliant 92-run knock against Sri Lanka helped India secure a massive victory by 302 runs, qualifying them for the semi-finals with an unbeaten 7/7 record.
