West Indies women's team registered a comfortable win by 9 wickets against India women's team in the 2nd T20I at the DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai on December 17, Tuesday. West Indies captain Hayley Matthew starred with the bat as she scored an unbeaten 85 from 47 balls and also took two wickets to earn the Player of the Match honours. With their 9-wicket win, West Indies also levelled the three-match T20I series 1-1 vs India. India's regular T20I captain, Harmanpreet Kaur, did not take part in the 2nd T20I as she sustained a niggle in her knee while batting during the 1st T20I. In her absence, Smriti Mandhana led the women in blue.

West Indies won the toss and decided to bowl first.

India women managed to post a competitive total of 159/9 after being put into bat first against West Indies women. However, captain Matthews led from the front and scored her maiden T20I fifty against India women's team. She made the Indian bowlers look clueless as they ran out of options to contain the West Indies captain. Matthews played an authoritative knock as West Indies chased down the target of 160 runs within 15.4 overs.

The opening stand of 65 runs between Matthews and Qiana Joseph set the tone for the chase for the visitors. 55 of those runs had come within the powerplay and after Qiana's dismissal, Campbelle joined Matthews as they chased down the target with ease.
