Ranchi: India beat New Zealand by seven wickets in the second T20 to take unassailable 2-0 lead in three-match series at JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi last night. Put in to bat first, Kiwis posted a total of 153 runs for six wickets.
While batsman Glenn Phillips top-scored for New Zealand with 34, openers Martin Guptill and Daryl Mitchell hit 31 apiece. During his innings, Guptill has become the highest run-scorer in Men's T20 International, surpassing Virat
Kohli's score of 3227 runs.
Indian debutant Harshal Patel, who scalped two wickets, was adjudged player of the match. In reply, the hosts overhauled the target for the loss of three wickets in 17.2 overs, riding on KL Rahul's 65 and Rohit Sharma's 55 runs. For visitors, Tim Southee picked up all three wickets. The third and final T-20 match will be played in Kolkata tomorrow. The T-20 series will be followed by the two-match Test series.
