Chasing a victory target of 194, India were 110 for 5 in their second innings against England at stumps on Day 3 of the Birmingham Test last night.
Skipper Virat Kohli at 43 and Dinesh Karthik on 18 were at the crease, with India needing 84 runs to win. Openers Murali Vijay and Shikhar Dhawan, Lokesh Rahul, Ajinkya Rahane and Ravichandran Ashwin are the wickets that fell.
Earlier in the day, England resumed play at the overnight score for 9 for 1 and they were
bundled out by India for 180. Paceman Ishant Sharma scalped five wickets, which was his 8th five-wicket haul in Tests.
Spinner Ravichandran Ashwin bagged three wickets, while seamer Umesh Yadav took two. Sam Curran top scored for the hosts with 63.
In the first innings, England had posted 287, replying to which India made 274. This is the first Test of the 5-match series. The second Test will be played in London from Thursday.
