India has set a victory target of 307 before New Zealand. Put into Bat India scored 306 for 7 in 50 overs. Shreyas Iyer became the highest scorer with 80 runs in 76 balls while Skipper Shikhar Dhawan scored 72 in 76 balls and Shubman Gill made 50 in 65
balls.
For New Zealand Tim Southee grabbed three wickets. The second ODI will be played on Sunday at Seddon Park in Hamilton.
The third match will be played on Wednesday at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch.
