India defeated hosts South Africa by 88 runs in their first one day international at the Diamond Oval in Kimberley. Chasing a victory target of 214 runs, South Africa were all out for 125 in 43.2 overs. For India, Jhulan Goswami took four wickets, Shikha Pandey three, Poonam Yadav two and Gayakwad one wicket. For South Africa, Dane van Niekerk top scored with 41
runs.
Winning the toss and deciding to bat first, Indian Eves made 213 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their alloted 50 overs. S. Mandhana top scored with 84 while skipper Mithali Raj contributed 45 runs.
The three match series will give both teams a chance to directly qualify for the 2021 ICC Women's World Cup.
