Royal Challengers Bangalore on Wednesday broke little sweat as they crushed Kolkata Knight Riders by 8 wickets in Abu Dhabi to move up to the second position in the Indian Premier League 2020 table.

Batting first Kolkata Knight Riders were restricted to 84 for 8 in 20 overs thanks to a superb bowling performance from the likes of Mohammad Siraj, Yuzvendra Chahal and Navdeep Saini.

Siraj bagged 3 wickets for 8 runs while Chahal bagged 2 for 15 while Navdeep Saini and Washington Sundar managed one each.

KKR skipper Eoin Morgan top-scored with 30 runs while Kuldeep Yadav (12) and Tom Banton (10) managed double-figure score but the rest failed miserably with the bat on a disappointing night for the two-time champions.

Siraj started the damage with the wicket of Rahul Tripathi in the 2nd over after which they continued to lose wickets at regular intervals. He continued to dent the batting lineup with the wickets of Nitish Rana (0) and Tom Banton (10).

Then the spinners took charge and continued the carnage with Chahal getting rid of Dinesh

Karthik (4) and Pat Cummins (4). Washington Sundar sent back Morgan to end all hopes of a KKR comeback in the match.

Royal Challengers Bangalore in return got off to a good start with Aaron Finch and Devdutt Padikkal adding 44 runs in the powerplay before the Australian limited-overs captain was sent back by Prasidh Krishna for 16.

Padikkal got run out for 25 but even then RCB didn't get into much trouble as Virat Kohli and Gurkeerat Singh Mann, batting for the first time this season, took the team over the finish line by the 14th over. Gurkeerat remained unbeaten on 21 while Kohli was not out on 17.

RCB climbed to second position on the table with 14 points from 10 games and inched closer to qualifying for the playoffs for the first time since the 2016 season. KKR on the other hand, held on to the 4th spot with 10 points from as many games.

Royal Challengers Bangalore will next face Chennai Super Kings in the first game of the double-header on October 25 in Dubai while Kolkata Knight Riders will lock horns with Delhi Capitals in Abu Dhabi in the first match on October 24.
