Kolkata Knightriders on Friday, 14th April have roped in Gujarat batter Aarya Desai for the remainder of the IPL 2023 season.
KKR have made a strong start to their IPL 2023 season but the preparations took a big hit when their captain Shreyas Iyer was ruled out for a major chunk of the tournament.
Iyer had a recurrence of a back injury during the fourth Test of the Border-Gavaskar trophy against Australia. The KKR captaincy was then taken up by Nitish Rana.
This was not the only player who was replaced by KKR in the season, with Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan also deciding to skip the tournament.
This meant that KKR had to go back into the unsold
players list and rope in Jason Roy as a replacement for Shakib. The two-time IPL Champions have now roped in another player for the season in Desai.
The IPL official website announced that the Gujarat batter has joined on board for the remainder of the season. Desai has played three first-class matches and has 151 runs to his name for Gujarat.
Desai joins KKR for 20 lakh rupees.
