Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain KL Rahul walked off the ground after suffering an injury against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Monday, May 1.
On the last ball of the second over, Rahul tried to stop a boundary off RCB captain Faf du Plessis. Rahul appeared to have tweaked his right thigh muscle while chasing the ball. He looked in immense pain as physios attended him. LSG brought a stretcher but Rahul opted to walk off the field with help from physios.
In the absence of Rahul, Krunal Pandya is currently leading Lucknow Super Giants since he was the designated vice-captain.
Lucknow Super Giants
are second in the IPL table, with 10 points from eight games. If LSG beat RCB on May 1, they would take the top spot in the standings. LSG are coming on the back of a thrilling 56-run win over Punjab Kings after registering the second-highest team total (257/5) in the history of the IPL.
Rahul, at the toss for LSG vs RCB, said that his team discussed not to have a fixed mindset. "Having played here (Lucknow) twice, we know that spin will be used more than pace here. Just want to hold our composure during crunch moments. The only thing we spoke about is to not come with a fixed mindset and we gotta bowl well and restrict them to a low total," Rahul said.
