Four-time IPL winners Chennai Super Kings have received a major blow as a star overseas player is set to leave the team early during the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League. MS Dhoni's CSK were recently hit with a setback when New Zealand star Kyle Jamieson was confirmed to undergo a surgery and miss cricket action for four months.

But now, they will be missing the services of England's Test captain Ben Stokes for the latter part of the Indian Premier League 2023. England will begin their summer with a one-off test match against Ireland, before playing the Ashes in June, and July 2023. England vs Ireland Test is scheduled to begin on 1st June, just four days after the IPL 2023 final on May 28. Stokes confirmed that he will be playing that match and give himself enough time for that.

"Yes, I'll play," Stokes said on being asked if he will play the Ireland Test. "I'll make sure that I give myself enough time to get back and play that game," he added.

There are a few other English Test players set to play the IPL and Stokes has kept a door for them to miss the Ireland test match. "I'll probably go and talk to the individuals and ask them what they want to be

ready for for the Ashes, because those five games are obviously the big ones of the summer, and you've got to think about what lads want. But what if something was to happen in that match (Ireland) and we lose someone for the Ashes ... It's just one of those where you have to weigh up the options of what the individual player actually wants out of that week, versus do we really need to play that one. Because, obviously, I'm right in saying that series is bigger than that game against Ireland, he said.

Recently CSK suffered a blow when Jamieson was confirmed to undergo surgery and miss cricket action for four months. CSK's fast bowler Kyle Jamieson is suffering from a recurrence of a back injury and will have to undergo surgery for the same. The treatment will reportedly make the New Zealand star stay on the sidelines for about four months. The Kiwi star was earlier ruled out of the ongoing two-match Test series against England due to a suspected stress fracture of the back. "Kyle has seen a back surgeon and is getting surgery later in the week," New Zealand head coach Gary Stead said. "It's been a challenging and difficult time for Kyle and a big loss for us. He's been fantastic around all of our sides when he's been part of them.
