The Rana and Shokeen cricketers, who represent Delhi in domestic cricket, seemingly hurled expletives at each other after the former was dismissed by the latter for five runs on the first ball of the ninth over.

Mumbai's stand-in captain Suryakumar Yadav and veteran off-spinner Piyush Chawla had to intervene and calm down Rana. Notably, Shokeen played under the captaincy of Rana in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2022-23. The two players also played together in the Ranji Trophy 2022-23.

"Kolkata Knight Riders captain Nitish Rana was fined 25 percent of his match fee for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during his team’s match against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.Rana admitted to the Level 1 Offence under Article 2.21 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct.

against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.Shokeen admitted to the Level 1 Offence under Article 2.5 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct. For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding," read a release from the IPL. 

Further, Suryakumar was also fined for maintaining a slow-over rate against Kolkata. The batter was leading Delhi as Rohit Sharma did not feature in the main playing eleven because of a stomach bug. 

"Mumbai Indians captain Suryakumar Yadav has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during their TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.As it was his team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Mr. Suryakumar Yadav was fined Rs. 12 lakh." Mumbai Indians defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by five wickets in the match.
