David Warner's Delhi Capitals continue being on the wrong side in IPL 2023 as went down in their fifth consecutive match of the season to Royal Challengers Bangalore. The Capitals lost the game by 23 runs at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru as their batting faltered in the chase of 175.
The Capitals were chasing a decent total on a slightly challenging pitch. They were dealt with huge blows as they lost 3 wickets inside the first three overs. David Warner soon fell prey to the debutant Vyshak Vijay Kumar and even though Manish Pandey staged a fightback, DC were way too behind and went down at the end.
It all started with Virat Kohli leading his team to make a strong start to the match. RCb made 47 runs in the first six overs but lost captain Faf du Plessis in the first six overs. But Kohli kept the scoreboard ticking and his powerful wrists gave him a 33-ball fifty. However, Kohli fell on the next ball he faced off Lalit Yadav on a full toss. After Virat's wicket, DC pulled things back.
Their spinners choked runs a bit and DC took regular wickets. But RCB managed to get 174 on a pitch that looked a bit challenging.
Delhi Capitals were once again outclassed in their batting. Prithvi Shaw went back in the first over as he got run-out. Mitchell Marsh and Yash Dhull soon followed, leaving DC 4/3 at the end of the 3rd over. Manish Pandey and David Warner tried bringing the chase to life but the latter fell soon. RCB bowlers bowled with disciplined and DC batters could not get a partnership going and fell short by 23 runs in the end.
