SunRisers Hyderabad captain Aiden Markram said their win over Delhi Capitals will give great confidence to his side in IPL 2023. SRH beat DC by nine runs in a last-over thriller to register their third win of the season.
Speaking at the post-match ceremony, Markram said it was a great team effort, while adding that it was good to see that SRH players show good skill and character. SRH defended a 198-run target to beat DC at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.
“Great team effort, good to see the guys show good skills and character. I don't mind getting things wrong if the approach is right. It helps to see such performances, the guys will see that results are there to be had. Credit to the way the team has responded,” said Markram.
He went on to heap praise on wicket-keeping batter Heinrich Klaasen, saying he has been in great form and backs himself to play the way he did for SRH. Klaasen smashed 53 runs off 27 balls, hitting two boundaries and
four maximums to propel his side to 197 for 7 in the first innings.
“Klassy has been in great form, and Abhishek did the hard work early on. Klassy backs himself to play that way, go to see it pay off. We needed wickets to get back in the game, the two were doing well and it needed a special catch from Mayank,” Markram added.
Finally, Markram said that this win will give the SRH squad great confidence that they will try to build on. SRH pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar defended 25 runs in the final over as his side picked up their second away win of the season.
“Fortunately, the ball was stopping a bit and the bowlers showed great character to execute their spoils. This win will give great confidence, now we travel back home and try to build on this,” said Markram.
After defeating DC, SRH will turn their attention towards Kolkata Knight Riders, with the two sides set to lock horns at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on May 4.
