21-year-old Yashasvi Jaiswal broke a 15-year-old IPL record as he became the uncapped batter with most runs in a season of the T20 tournament. Jaiswal got to the landmark when he went past 41 runs in Rajasthan Royals' 188-run chase against Punjab Kings in their final IPL 2023 group game in Dharamsala on Friday, May 19.
Yashasvi Jaiswal went past Shaun Marsh's tally of 616 runs, which was the most runs scored by an uncapped player in the IPL. Marsh, who had not played for Australia when the inaugural edition of the IPL was played, scored 616 runs in 2008.
Yashasvi Jaiswal also joined Marsh, Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant and Ruturaj Gaikwad in the list of batters who scored more than 600 runs in an IPL season before they turned 25.
Virat Kohli scored 634 runs in 2013, Rishabh Pant 684 runs in 2018 and Ruturaj Gaikwad 636 runs in 2021 for the Chennai Super Kings.

Yashasvi Jaiswal brought up his fifth fifty of the IPL 2023 season as he led Rajasthan's chase against Punjab. The left-hander got there in just 35 balls as he took the responsibility of being there after his senior partner Jos Buttler was out for a duck.
Jaiswal departed for 50 off 36 balls in the 15th over as the young man did his job, setting up a good platform for the likes of Shimron Hetmyer and Dhruv Jurel to go big in the chase.
Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was in sensational form in the domestic season, finished the group stages of IPL 2023 with 625 runs in 14 matches. Jaiswal hit 2 hundreds as well for the Royals in the season.
In fact, Jaiswal's 124 off 62 balls against Mumbai Indians in an earlier fixture was the highest score in IPL history by an uncapped batter. He went past Paul Valthaty's record of 120 for Punjab against Chennai Super Kings in 2011.
Jaiswal scored at a strike rate of over 160 and an average of 50, firmly putting his hand for an India call-up.
