The IPL 2024 Playoffs are set as the match between RR and KKR in Guwahati was washed out without a ball being bowled on May 19, Sunday. With both teams sharing the points, KKR will now face SRH in the Qualifier 1 while RR and RCB will faceoff in the Eliminator 1. RR and SRH ended up with 17 points, but SRH edged past the Royals with a better net-run rate.
Hyderabad had beaten PBKS by 4 wickets earlier on in the day to go to the second spot on the points table, meaning that RR needed to beat KKR in Guwahati. However, just ahead of the toss, the rain started
coming in, forcing the covers to come on. There was a brief reprieve for the fans in between when the rain had subsided and the covers were slowly coming off. However, rain would return once again and this time, accompanied by thunder and lightning.
The covers did come off at around 10 PM IST and we did have a ground inspection at 10:25 PM IST. We had a toss happen and KKR opted to bowl first after winning it. The game was reduced to a 7 overs per side game before rain returned just before the start of play. This would force the game to be called off in the end.
