LSG pace sensation Mayank Yadav is set to miss the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 group matches against DC and KKR, scheduled for April 12 and April 14, respectively. Notably, Mayank Yadav suffered a side strain during LSG's match against GT on April 7, which forced him to leave the field after bowling just one over. The injury was later described as soreness in the lower abdominal area, prompting the LSG management to take precautionary measures by managing his workload over the next week. "Mayank felt soreness in the lower abdominal area and as a precaution, we are managing his work load over the next week. We hope to see him soon in the
field," CEO of the Super Giants, Colonel Vinod Bisht, said in a statement on Monday.
Yadav, only 21 years old, quickly made a name for himself in the cricketing world with his impressive speed, clocking deliveries over 150 kph. In his debut IPL game of the 2024 season, he not only bowled nine balls exceeding 150 kph but also took three crucial wickets while conceding only 27 runs. His performance caught the attention of cricket legends Brett Lee and Dale Steyn, who praised the young pacer for his raw pace and potential. Unfortunately, this injury scare means that LSG will have to navigate their next two matches without their pace spearhead.
