Lucknow Super Giants on Monday, January 1 announced they parted ways with assistant coach Vijay Dahiya ahead of the IPL 2024 season. Dahiya, the former India wicketkeeper, worked with the Super Giants in the Andy Flower-led support staff group since the team's inception in 2022.

Vijay Dahiya took to social media to "bid goodbye" to Lucknow Super Giants and wished the team well for the upcoming season. Dahiya parting ways with Lucknow comes months after LSG appointed former Australia opener Justin Lanager as their head coach. LSG opted not to renew the contract of their former head coach Andy Flower, whose tenure ended after the IPL 2023 season. LSG made the playoffs in 2022 and 2023, making a fine start to thier IPL journey.

"Time to bid adieu â€æ LSG. Lucknow Super Giants, it was a wonderful experience working with the team over the past two years. Wishing team LSG all the very best," Dahiya said in a social media post.

Vijay Dahiya shared a close working relationship with Gautam Gambhir, who was the mentor at LSG over the last two years. Gambhir and LSG parted ways earlier in the year and the World Cup-winning former opener returned to Kolkata Knight Riders, this time in a new role.

Vijay Dahiya, who played 2 Tests and 19 ODIs for India between 2000 and 2001, has had an extensive coaching career. He was working as the coach of the Uttar Pradesh team when he landed the LSG job. Dahiya had also worked with the Kolkata Knight Riders franchise as their assistant coach and a talent scout for Delhi Capitals.

Notably, Lucknow Super Giants had appointed former India spinner Sridharan Sriram as one of their assistant coach for IPL 2024 season. He joined the likes of Pravin Tambe and the South African duo of Morne Morkel and Jonty Rhodes as the team's assistant coaches.

Langer brings in a wealth of coaching experience to LSG having led Australia to T20 World Cup and Ashes victories between 2018 and 2022. The former opener also has a good track record in franchise-based T20 tournaments, having led the Perth Scorchers to 3 titles.
