The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah confirmed on Saturday that the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 will start at the end of March and conclude by the end of May or the first week of June.

The Indian Premier League mini-auction for the 2024 season will be held on December 19 in Dubai, according to the Indian Cricket Board (BCCI), which confirmed the date on Sunday, December 3. This will be the first time the auction will be held overseas.

A total of 1166 players have registered for the auction, which will be the last mini-auction before next year's mega auction, according to PTI news agency. There are 77 seats up for grabs and 30 of them would be players from overseas. The 10 teams can collectively spend Rs 262.95 crore. The IPL organizing committee will trim the list of players and share the shortlist of available players at the auction in the coming days.

Talking about the

upcoming Women's Premier League (WPL), Jay Shah also said that the next season is scheduled to kick off in February, with a probable start date on the 2nd or 3rd. Speaking to reporters in Mumbai during the WPL auction, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah conveyed that logistical challenges have led to the decision to confine the league to one state this time.

However, he expressed openness to exploring multiple cities for future editions, stating that the choice of venue would be a collaborative decision between the franchise and BCCI. When asked about the state, he stated that it is a collaborative decision between the franchise and the BCCI.

The second edition of the Women's Premier League (WPL) will not follow a multi-city format similar to the IPL and the matches may be played across Mumbai and Bengaluru. All the matches of the inaugural WPL were played between March 4 and 26 earlier this year at the DY Patil Stadium and the Brabourne Stadium.
