Star Bengaluru batter Virat Kohli surpassed the legendary MS Dhoni in the all-time list of most sixes in the history of the Indian Premier League. Kohli hit his 240th six of the league during the match between Bengaluru and Kolkata at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, marking his third six of the night. This achievement propelled him past Dhoni, who has scored 239 sixes in the cash-rich league.
Kohli further solidified his performance by notching up his 101st fifty-plus score in T20 cricket, achieving his 52nd IPL half-century in just 36 balls against Kolkata. Kohli was on a six-hitting and record-breaking spree as he hit the most sixes for Bengaluru in the IPL. He also became the 2nd Indian, after Rohit Sharma, with the most number of maximums. Chris Gayle topped the
charts, followed by Rohit and AB de Villiers.
Kolkata won the toss and opted to bat first and Kohli started from where he had left in the last innings against Punjab. The star batter smashed Mitchell Starc for a six in the third over of the game, which was followed by a boundary. Kohli also took on Sunil Narine for a six in the 8th over of the game and then smashed Varun Chakravarthy for an 86-meter six in the 12th over of the match to go past Dhoni.
