Mumbai Indians batter Rohit Sharma got dismissed for a four-ball duck during Match 3 of the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025) on Sunday, March 23 at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. Rohit couldn’t do much on his comeback to T20 cricket after nine months as he miscued a flick shot against Khaleel Ahmed and got caught at mid-wicket by Shivam Dube.
It was the third time in his IPL career that Rohit got dismissed by Khaleel and registered his 18th duck in the tournament’s history. He’s now levelled with Glenn Maxwell and Dinesh Karthik to have joint most ducks to his name in IPL
history.
Rohit was retained for Rs 16.30 crore by Mumbai ahead of the season after widespread speculation of him leaving the team. The opening batter is playing his second successive season as a pure batter after relinquishing his captaincy for Hardik Pandya ahead of the 2023 edition.
Rohit had a brilliant tournament last season as he scored over 400 runs for the first time since 2019. The opening batter played without any burden of captaincy for the first time since 2012 and accumulated 417 runs from 14 innings at an average of 32.07 with one hundred and one fifty to his name.
