SunRisers Hyderabad stamped their authority in the Indian Premier League in their very first outing of the season. The Pat Cummins-led team stayed true to their promise of providing entertainment to the fans, hitting the second-highest team total in the history of the tournament.

Playing against Rajasthan Royals, SRH put up 286 runs in the first innings and then successfully defended it by 44 runs. On a

true batting pitch at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, the match turned out to be a shootout between the batters. Rajasthan tried their best in the second innings, but finished well short, at 242/6 in their 20 overs.

However, it needs to be pointed out that, barring only a couple of overs, bowlers from both teams bowled fairly average deliveries, which allowed opposition batters to cut loose.
