Punjab Kings scripted history in a stunning 16-run win over Kolkata Knight Riders in their IPL 2025 match at Mullanpur on Tuesday. PBKS successfully defended the lowest ever total in IPL history in a 20-overs-a-side match as they handed a shocking defeat to KKR. The Ajinkya Rahane-led side was 62 for 2 at one stage in the chase of 112 runs but Yuzvendra Chahal's four-wicket haul turned the game on its head. The spinner returned 4 for 28 to rattle KKR, who eventually succumbed to 95. Marco Jansen's 3 for 17 also helped PBKS' cause.
Earlier, Harshit Rana returned figures of 3 for 25 as
KKR bowled out PBKS for 111 after getting an invitation to bowl first. Varun Chakaravarthy (2 for 21) and Sunil Narine (2 for 14) claimed two wickets apiece. The Shreyas Iyer-led side got off to a flying start as Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya added 39 runs for the first wicket in 3.1 overs but Harshit rocked PBKS with a double-wicket over.
KKR never looked back since then and kept up piling pressure on PBKS, bundling out the side for a paltry total. Never in their dreams KKR would have hoped what was coming on in the next innings. PBKS put on a magical show to record a thrilling win.
