South Africa all-rounder Chris Morris on Thursday became the most expensive player in IPL history after he was bought by the Rajasthan Royals for Rs 16.25 crore.
Although he was expected to earn in the big bucks, what surprised everyone was the amount that he went for. It was more than 21 times his base price for the auction of Rs 75 lakh.
As many as four
teams were involved in getting the player on board as Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals, Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore bid for the player. The Jaipur-based franchise eventually managed to out bid the others and got the South African on board.
With his record-breaking bid on Thursday, Morris dethroned Yuvraj Singh as the most expensive IPL player.
