England pacer James Anderson has confirmed that he is not going to retire after the Ashes 2023 series. The 41-year-old pacer, one of the greatest of all time spoke to Sky Sports ahead of the final day of the Test match and said that he is more motivated to than ever to press on.

"I'm even more firm that I want to keep going. My body is fine, my skills are fine, I'm bowling well enough - even though I've had a really disappointing by the standard I expect from myself," Anderson told Sky Sports ahead of the final day of the Oval Test.

Anderson revealed that he was a little bit shocked after Broad announced his decision to call time on his career after Day 3 of the Oval Test match.

"I was a bit shocked when he [Broad] told me. We've love playing together; it's been incredibly special and I'll definitely miss him," Anderson revealed.

"I respect his



decision. He seems very clear on what he wants to do, and yesterday morning was really special getting to walk out with him on the field and watching him hit his last ball in cricket for six," he further added.


Australia closed Day 4 on 135/0 with both openers scoring their respective half-centuries. With a record chase in hand, Usman Khawaja and David Warner put Australia in grand position before the rain forced the play to stop on Day 4 of the Test match. Ahead of the game, Broad recieved the guard of honour from the Australian team with the crowd on its feet, clapping for the pacer.

"The crowd were amazing. The ovation he got was incredible and I felt really luck to be out there and to experience it to," Anderson said about the reception at Oval.

England will come into Day 5 of the Test match, hoping to defend 249 runs Australia need to win n the final Test match.
