Ahead of the upcoming season of IPL, Mumbai Indians have sustained a massive blow to their campaign. Star India bowler Jasprit Bumrah who is still recovering from a back injury is all set to miss Indian Premier League and will undergo back surgery. Not only the IPL, but the speedster might also miss the World Test Championship that is scheduled to start on June 7, 2023. This certainly is a piece of bad news for the Indian cricket team as the WTC final will be played in England and India will certainly miss the services of their premier fast bowler.
As quoted in the reports of ESPN Cricinfo, Bumrah is being analyzed by the medical staff of the Board of Control for Cricket in India and is attending rehab at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) Bengaluru, the BCCI is treating Jasprit Bumrah's case on an urgent basis. The ace India speedster
missed the T20 World Cup owing to the same issue. The BCCI was already monitoring Bumnrah's workload keeping the WTC final and the upcoming World Cup in mind, but it is now being said that he will miss the upcoming IPL and might also be ruled out of the World Test Championship final.
The BCCI is constantly working in tandem with the NCA and a final decision on the matter is expected to be taken soon. This is the year of the ODI World Cup that will be played in the month of October-November in India and Jasprit Bumrah will have a very key role to play as far as India's hopes to win the title is concerned. This has been a very long wait for Jasprit Bumrah who has tried to make a comeback after suffering a back injury in August last year. The Mumbai Indians speedster also played the last two T20Is against Australia on September 23 and 25.
