Indian cricket team's ace pacer, Jasprit Bumrah, is all set to make a grand return to the international cricket scene after a year-long hiatus due to a recurring back injury. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on 31 July that Bumrah will be leading the Indian squad in the upcoming three-match T20 International series against Ireland, scheduled to take place from August 18 to 23.
Bumrah, who has been out of action since September 2022, had been grappling with a persistent back injury that necessitated surgical intervention. In March 2023, he underwent a successful surgery in New Zealand's Christchurch, performed by Dr. Rowan Schouten. The surgery
was followed by an extensive rehabilitation period at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, where Bumrah worked diligently on his fitness and bowling action under the watchful eyes of the NCA staff led by former Indian cricketer VVS Laxman.
Fans expressed their joy on the pacer's return and showered messages of strength.
The right-arm pacer's recovery process was closely monitored by the BCCI, which expressed satisfaction with his progress. Bumrah's successful rehabilitation and his subsequent selection as the captain of the Indian T20I squad for the Ireland series mark a significant milestone in his journey back to competitive cricket.
