Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan, former New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson and UAE batter Asif Khan have been nominated for the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for March.

Kane Williamson

The 32-year-old played just two Test matches in the month of March and scored centuries in both of them. Williamson scored an unbeaten 121 in New Zealand’s second innings to guide them to a slender two-wicket win over Sri Lanka.

He then went on to score a double century in the second Test against Sri Lanka, as they routed the visitors by an innings and 58 runs. Williamson scored 215 runs off 296 deliveries, hitting 23 boundaries and a couple of maximums.

In all, Williamson scored 337 runs in just two matches in March and guided his side to a clean sweep over Sri Lanka in the two-match home Test series.

Shakib Al Hasan

The Bangladesh skipper finished both as the highest run-scorer and

wicket-taker for his side in their 1-2 loss against England in the three-game ODI series. He then guided his side a 3-0 whitewash of England in a three-match home T20I series.

He then captained his side to a 2-0 ODI win and a 2-1 T20I series win over Ireland at home, and even scored a match-winning 93 in the first ODI. In the 12 games played in March, Shakib scored 353 runs and scalped 15 wickets.

Asif Khan

The hard-hitting UAE batter amassed 403 runs, while hitting two hundreds and two half-centuries in the month of March. After a quiet start to the series in Nepal, Asif exploded and scored an unbeaten 101 in 42 balls, hitting the fastest century by an Associate Nation player in ODI cricket history. He then went on to smash another century, this time against USA.

In the month of February, England batter Harry Brook overcame India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and West Indies bowler Gudakesh Motie to claim his second ICC Men’s Player of the Month.
